Rubber baby Buggy Bumpers – it’s not that easy any more

Good News!!!! Check it out and report back.

Go Mama Go Designs 38 Pack Wonder Bumpers Review

It used to be that parents would put bumpers on baby beds to keep their little ones safe from bumping their heads. However, in recent months pediatricians and child safety experts have recommended that parents no longer use traditional bumpers, as they can prove to be a safety hazard for babies. The Go Mama Go Designs 38 Pack Wonder Bumpers is an ingenious, safe workaround that allows you to provide the protection from bumped heads that little ones need, without the inherent risk involved with traditional bumpers.

Wraparound Design

The secret to why Go Mama Go Designs 38 Pack Wonder Bumpers are so safe, while still providing adequate protection, is in their wraparound design. Instead of one long piece of material stretched across several crib rails, the Go Mama Go Designs 38 Pack Wonder Bumpers are individual pieces that wrap around each rail. This design eliminates the breathing hazard caused by traditional baby bed bumpers, but still gives the extra bit of cushioning that little heads, hands and bodies deserve. The end result is a smart, safe and cute product for baby’s crib.

3 bodies

The question was asked this morning after class, “How do you stick to your practice outside of the studio?”  I replied that my practice is not about doing the asanas everyday, my practice is more about listening to my body and giving it what it needs, sometimes it’s meditation, sometimes it’s pranayama and sometimes it’s asana. She was relieved to hear that she did not have to roll out her mat for a 45 min self taught class everyday. What I discovered as the instructor is that I need to address the dynamics of a home practice more in my yoga classes. Life is fun!

Though many students practice the yoga postures as a form of exercise, it is like “eating the skin of a fruit and not the meat within.” Approaching the yoga postures with the intent of building awareness of the senses and body movement, the emotional risings and fallings, and the intellectual analysis can make a profound difference in your personal asana practice.

Try approaching your daily practice as awareness of your three bodies…Yes, three bodies! The physical body, the emotional body and the intellectual body. As you move through the postures, pay close attention to the sensations as you bend, twist, stretch and place tension on the muscles and bones. Become aware when your mind wanders and focused attention on the body drifts away.

For the emotional body, notice if there is a particular feeling such as impatience, boredom, frustration or judgment as you bring yourself to each posture. We often avoid postures not only because they are difficult physically, but because they have a deeper rooted affect on the emotions.

The intellectual body is a balancing act between ego, judgment and true, objective analysis. Curiosity and kindness towards yourself are attitudes that can keep ego and judgment from sabotaging the intellectual experience.

If you can’t find time to be on the mat, bring the attention to the three bodies in your daily life activities. You may be surprised by the lessons you will learn.

Batteries and children

Heads Up Moms and Grand moms! Me being in the  grand mom category, have never thought about the possibility of children swallowing the button batteries and the HUGE dangers that they pose. I read that in the US every 90 minutes a child is taken to the emergency room for a battery incident.

Please share with other moms the potential danger of the key-less remote batteries for your car, tv remotes, cards that play music when opened have small batteries, small flashlites

If you read this and have a battery idea  that I did not mention please post it and share. This is really sad, children loose the ability to talk, or worse death and this is so simple to avoid.

Working together to help each other.

Diaper Debate

You can’t beat disposable diapers for convenience, but some parents worry that convenience comes at a steep price for the environment. Several companies offerdisposable diapers that they claim have a gentler impact on the earth than conventional disposable diapers.

Here’s a brief look at some of the newcomers.

Flushable and biodegradable diapers

Several brands promote the biodegradable materials in their diapers, but be cautious of that claim – even biodegradable material doesn’t break down well in a landfill. But diapers that can be flushed down the toilet, such as gDiapers, will biodegrade when treated with other human waste.

Compostable diapers

It sounds too good to be true – the ability to turn a soiled diaper into sanitary, nutrient-rich dirt! The truth is, the technology works, but it’s not widely available. Compostable diapers only break down if they’re actively composted. If you toss them into your trash bin, they’ll go straight to the landfill and won’t readily break down.

While many municipalities collect waste specifically for composting, diapers are rarely accepted. Be sure to check with your local recycling service before tossing dirty diapers in the compost collection.

The few manufacturers of biodegradable diapers advise against trying to compost them at home. There’s the issue of dealing with fecal matter and pathogens as well as the problem of space – it can take about a year for a biodegradable diaper to break down, and babies go through a lot of diapers in that time.

Nevertheless, there’s growing interest in composting diapers and more options may become available. A compostable diaper service in the San Francisco Bay Area, for example, has soiled diapers professionally composted, a process that takes about six months.

Why Prenatal Yoga

Why is yoga good for pregnancy? Stress relief, improved sleep, mental clarity, prep for delivery through asasa are just some of the benefits of yoga.  Gentle physical exercises work on key muscles and joints to assist with general fitness and can also assist with labor, smooth pregnancy and a natural childbirth.  But more importantly, yoga does wonders on the physical and mental development of your growing baby. The following is a guide to some of the practices used during our classes, and how they can be of benefit to you.

Yoga Exercises (asana) these gently work on the pelvis to bring flexibility and a full healthy range of motion to the joints and muscles. At the subtle level, these ensure optimum supply of blood and nutrients to the developing fetus.  Assist to open the hips,Image strengthen the legs, and the upper body and also to become more aware of your body with breath and movement.

Breathing or Pranayama (breath control) – These powerful techniques ensure the abundant supply of oxygen and a better life force for you and your child. Learn simple pranayama techniques that you can use to revitalize and re-energize but with only a well qualified instructor.

Meditation As a therapeutic tool, meditation will help you resolve fears and conflicts, which are so common during pregnancy.  Meditation brings with it an incredible awareness which helps you connect with your child in a way that is impossible to explain. Breath and mediation techniques will also be given to manage the different levels of discomfort through out the delivery.

Yoga Nidra Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique to induce physical, mental and emotional relaxation.  Referred to as psychic sleep because it is as if you’re asleep but you remain aware on a conscious level.  Mostly Yoga Nidra is the systematic rotation of consciousness throughout different parts of the body.  It may also involve awareness of breath, feelings and also visualizations and is always guided by your Yoga Instructor.
