It Is for Every Body

I love the idea  YogaFit uses “Yoga is for every body”. It reminds me that we are all the same no matter our size, shape, color, gender or level of ability, we are all able to enjoy the benefits of Yoga.
I had an over weight lady ask me if she could do Yoga, I related to her that I weighed 202 lbs when I started taking Yoga but that the awareness of my internal being (not trying to get all mystical) taught me that I needed to address some issues! I have since lost some weight and I still attend Yoga classes ( getting ready to go in a few min. to my favorite studio) for the external and internal benefits. I wish I had thought to tell her that pregnant women attend Yoga but that sends a different message, doesn’t it?

Is it necessary?

I sit here and wonder… why wasn’t I encouraged to excercise while I was pregant? Has the process changed?
The process hasnt changed but our life style has changed, atleast for some of us. We want to be healthier, happier, and we want the same for our children. During the pregnancy is the best time to start this new life off on the right path.
Excercise is one of the best ways to encourage good health and during pregnancy it has even more benifits. I wish I had known that excercise reduces stress, increases energy level (I so needed that), and even refreshes you. Gentle stretching will counter-act tiredness, and tone muscles without straining them.
That just skims the surface of the benifits of excercise while pregnant so why arent the doctors pushing the concept?
