It Is for Every Body

I love the idea  YogaFit uses “Yoga is for every body”. It reminds me that we are all the same no matter our size, shape, color, gender or level of ability, we are all able to enjoy the benefits of Yoga.
I had an over weight lady ask me if she could do Yoga, I related to her that I weighed 202 lbs when I started taking Yoga but that the awareness of my internal being (not trying to get all mystical) taught me that I needed to address some issues! I have since lost some weight and I still attend Yoga classes ( getting ready to go in a few min. to my favorite studio) for the external and internal benefits. I wish I had thought to tell her that pregnant women attend Yoga but that sends a different message, doesn’t it?

Others will say that yoga is not for them because they are not flexible? I would argue that that is the reason a person should try yoga.

Flexibility is increased during the stages of pregnancy due to a hormore that is produced called relaxin. It’s sole purpose is to release the joints so that the birth canal isn’t rigid, the joints become flexible and will for the most part return to thier natural place after the birth. So, a pregant mom should do yoga to learn to protect herself and her joints during this time, and those that say they are not flexible are that way due to not stretching the muscles. I still like what Yogafit says “Yoga is for every body”

Quiet Mystic

Any perception can connect us to reality, properly and fully. What we see doesn't have to be pretty, particularly; we can appreciate anything that exists. There is some principle of magic in everything, some living quality. Something living, something real, is taking place in everything. --Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
